Mit der Vergabe dieses Events nach Oldenburg steht zudem fest, dass die EWE Baskets Oldenburg für das Beko BBL TOP FOUR qualifiziert sind. Terminiert ist die Endrunde gemäß Rahmenterminplan der Beko Basketball Bundesliga (Beko BBL) für den 5./6. April 2015. „Wie freuen uns sehr, dass wir in Oldenburg zu Gast sind“, erklärte Beko BBL-Geschäftsführer Jan Pommer. Die Voraussetzungen könnten kaum besser sein: Eine neue Multifunktions-Arena, ein sehr professionell arbeitendes Umfeld und Fans, die ihre ‚Donnervögel‘ lautstark unterstützen, bieten den idealen Rahmen für dieses sportliche Highlight. „Die EWE Baskets Oldenburg haben in den vergangenen Jahren auf und abseits des Parketts eine sehr beachtliche Entwicklung genommen. Das spiegelt sich nun unter anderem in der Ausrichtung der Pokal-Endrunde wider“, sagte Pommer. Der Beko BBL-Geschäftsführer betonte zugleich, dass auch die anderen Bewerber attraktive Angebote abgegeben hätten und es wie immer kein leichter Entscheidungsprozess gewesen sei. Letztlich könne aber nur ein Standort den Zuschlag erhalten – und dies sei wegen des sehr stimmigen Gesamt-Pakets diesmal Oldenburg gewesen.

Wir werden alles daransetzen, uns als bestmöglicher Gastgeber zu präsentieren und alle Besucher mit offenen Armen empfangen.“ Schüller ergänzte: „Zudem möchten wir das Beko BBL TOP FOUR zum Anlass nehmen, ein Forum anzubieten, in dem sich Basketball-Experten austauschen und dank ihrer Erfahrungen voneinander profitieren können.“

2015 sees a double premiere in Oldenburg: For the first time in its history the cup finals tournament of the Beko BBL TOP FOUR will be held in Lower Saxony and for the first time the 6000 seat EWE Arena in Oldenburg will be the venue of the event. Furthermore the EWE Baskets Oldenburg are automatically qualified for the event. The tournament is scheduled by the Beko BBL for the weekend of April 5th and 6th 2015.
“We are excited to be guests in Oldenburg”, Beko BBL CEO Jan Pommer explained. The foundations couldn’t be better: The new multi-function arena, a highly professional organization and fans, who have been supporting their “Thunderbirds” enthusiastically for years now form the ideal background for this event. “The EWE Baskets Oldenburg have worked hard to establish themselves as a top team in our league both organizationally and regarding their teams successes. For us it is the logical conclusion to award the organization with the TOP FOUR Tournament next year.” adds Pommer. The Beko BBL CEO stressed that the other applicants made very good pitches as well and that the decision had not been an easy one to make. In the end the tournament has to be held in one place and this year Oldenburg had the best overall package.
